Tony Black is a bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer residing in Waynesville, North Carolina. Tony Black curates this ensemble of jazz musicians focusing on the artistry of jazz as an improvisational vehicle for higher expression.
Tony is mostly known for his contributions to successful rock projects such as the Marshall Tucker Band, but has a long history of Jazz performance as well. From 1998 through 2000 Tony performed with "EYEDENTITY" which at times featured famed Brazilian Jazz musicians FLORA PURIM, AIRTO MORIERA, along side Mowtown studio legend WAH WAH WATSON. In Asheville Tony has performed jazz with MIKE BARNES, ALAN HALL, JEFF SIPE, MIKE RHODES, JASON DECRISTIFARO and many others.
